The Pakistani army surrendered on 16 December itself. There was a military conflict between Indo-Pak in 1971. It started from 3 December 1971 to 16 December 1971 due to the freedom struggle of the then East Pakistan, in just 13 days the Pakistani army surrendered. This war was one of the shortest recorded wars in history.

Answer :- Manekshaw was born on 3 April 1914 in Amritsar in a Parsi family. He was one of the 40 students selected for the first batch (1932) of the Indian Military Academy. Joined the Indian Army in 1934. Manekshaw was the Chief of Indian Army. Under whose leadership India won the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. As a result Bangladesh was born. He was made the Chief of the Army Staff in 1969 and was awarded the honor of Field Marshal in 1973. His illustrious career started with the British Indian Army and spanned 4 decades, during which 5 wars were also fought. In 1972, the Government of India honored him with the Padma Vibhushan. He died on 27 June 2008 at 12:30 pm in the ICU of Military Hospital, Wellington.

Answer :- Field Marshal K. M. Cariappa was born on January 28, 1899 in Kodagu (Coorg) of Karnataka at a place called Shanivarsanthi. Coorg was a princely state at that time. Field Marshal K. M. Cariappa was the first Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Army. KM Cariappa led the army on the western border in the Indo-Pak war of 1947. His military career spanned almost 3 decades during which he was appointed Chief of Army Staff on 15 January 1949. Since then 15 January is celebrated as ‘Army Day’. Cariappa belonged to the Rajput Regiment. He retired in 1953, yet he continued to support the Indian Army in some form or the other. Field Marshal KM Cariappa died on 15 May 1993 in Bangalore, the capital of Karnataka. He was 94 years old at the time of his death.
